When I was a kid, before the days of cable, we had only 4 channels. The worst nights of the year were when the President gave a speech or the political conventions were on because it took up all 4 channels and my dad was constantly telling us to be quiet. I wasn’t interested in any dumb speech so my brother and I would go to our rooms and find another way to entertain ourselves for the evening. It’s funny how things change. I was watching FOX news, as I always am doing, and a commercial for the Republican National Convention came on and I said to my husband, “I can’t wait until the convention starts on Monday!” Call me a political nerd, but I am actually looking forward to the coverage of the convention on Monday. So even though I have over 300 channels to choose from, it doesn’t matter. I won’t be looking for another way to entertain myself. I will be participating in the political process from the comforts of my own living room.
